1993 Certificate of Merit forSandoz Prize for Gerontological Research from Sandoz Foundation, Switzerland.
1994 Indian Merchants Chamber Platinum Jubilee Endowment Trust Award for Outstanding Contributions towards Relief and Rehabilitation of the Aged.
1994 Dr.B.C.Roy National Award for the development of the Speciality Geriatrics, received from the President of India. He is The First Geriatrician in India to receive this award.
1996 The British Geriatric Society’s 50th Anniversary Medal given at London in recognition of his Outstanding Services in Geriatric Medicine in India.
1998 International Biographical Centre, Cambridge for conferred The 20th Century Award for Achievement in recognition of outstanding Achievements in the field of Geriatrics.
1999 Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust, Ludhiana presented him with the Sat Paul Mittal National Award for rendering selfless services to the suffering humanity.
2000 The Tamil Nadu DR.M.G.R.Medical University, Chennai has appointed him as Emeritus Professor of this University in Recognition of his valuable services rendered in the field of Geriatrics.
2001 Madras Medical College, Chennai presented Life Time Achievement Award for starting the First Geriatric Unit at Government General Hospital, Chennai and also for his contribution in promoting the health care of the elderly for more than two decades.
2003 The Tamil Nadu DR.M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, has conferred the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science for his pioneering service in the field of Geriatric Medicine in India
2004 At the Indian Ageing Congress, New Delhi Life Time Achievement Award was presented by Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss, Union Minister for Helath and Family Welfare, for his exemplary Accomplishments in the field of Geriatrics and Gerontology.
2007 Nominated as member in National Council for older persons(NCOP) by Ministry of Social Justice Empowerment, Govt. of India.Government of Tamil Nadu Honoured him with “Best Social Worker” Award on the “World Elders Day” celebration on 08-10-2007. Hon’ble Minister for Finance Thiru K. Anbazhan presented the award in the presence of Hon’ble Minister for Social Welfare Dr. Poonkothai Aladi Aruna.
2009 At the 7th Annual National Conference of the Indian Academy of Geriatrics held on 14th & 15th November 2009 at The Oberoi Grand, Kolkata. Prof. Pradip Kumar Deb, Vice Chancellor, The West Bengal University of Health Sciences, Kolkata, has presented the “Life Time Achievement Award” to Dr.V.S.Natarajan, for his pioneering work in the field of Geriatrics and the service to the elderly for more than 3 decades.Nominated as an Advisory Member of State Council for Older Persons (Social Welfare Department, G.O.No.168, Dated 30-12-2009). This committee will meet once in six months and advice to the Social Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, regarding the welfare measures to be undertaken for the elderly.
2009 “Life Time Achievement Award” presented to Dr.V.S.Natarajan in recognition of his pioneering role in the field of Geriatric Service at the The Indian Academy of Geriatrics, 7th National Conference held at Kolkatta.
2010 Honoured with “Life Time Achievement Award” for his exemplary contribution in the field of Ageing by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India on 1st October 2010
2010 The Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R.Medical University has conferred the “Life Time Achievement Award” to DR.V.S.Natarajan, on the occasion of its 21st convocation , 2010.
2012 TANKER Foundation given “Renny Abraham TANKER Foundation LOVE FOR SERVICE” Award. This Award is given for his work on Geriatric care and also service rendered as a Father of Geriatric Medicine in India. The award is presented by Mr.Mike Nithavriyanakis, the British Deputy High Commissioner.
2012 Dr.V.S. Natarajan, has been felicitated by Prof. Finbarr .C. Martin, President British Geriatric Society, presented a momento at “2nd International Congress on Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine 2012” at New Delhi which was organized by Ranbaxy Science Foundation for being awarded Padmashri
