Spirituality and Social Activities
Since the beginning of the universe, human sufferings used to multiply from time to time. When sufferings reach a crescendo to the extent of threatening World peace leading to alround destruction affecting land and environment, God the Almighty has all along been kind and benevolent to descend on Mother Earth manifesting himself in human flesh and blood to bring about salvation for the mankind and deliverance from their sins. There cannot be a more demanding situation, as of now, for the award.

Almighty to step in, in this fashion to save the present day world. The whole world is now war torn with the threat of nuclear holocaust looming large. To confound these appalling conditions, Drugs and AIDS rule the world leading to chaos everywhere today. To save the mankind from this catastrophe, it is the benevolence of the Almighty to bless this holyland with a Saviour and Redeemer in Melmaruvathur (Tamil Nadu, India) as may be seen from on the following lines:-
During a cyclonic storm at Melmaruvathur in the year 1966, a neem tree secreting sweet medicinal milk got uprooted following which a SWAYAMBU (an oval stone-like emanation – representing the Hindu faith of an idol of the deity) manifested itself. The power above revealed itself as a Swayambu and proclaimed that it had transmigrated into HIS HOLINESS BANGARU ADIGALAR in flesh and blood of an ordinary human being to deliver oracles through Him to benefit the world and save it from its sins.
In 1971, the first Oracle was delivered and the power prophesied that it is descending on earth as MOTHER to be worshipped as GODDESS ADIPARASAKTHI, to pave the way for the world to go in later for a spiritual revolution and emergence of a New Renaissance. That was the beginning of the modern era of Emancipation. As times passed by, Oracles of His Holiness Bangaru Adigalar drew the attention of millions from far and near and also from abroad. The spontaneous offering of funds by devotees during these Oracles have been rightly and properly channelised into various mega developments that are to be seen to be believed in the great village of Melmaruvathur today.
The abode of Goddess Adhiparasakthi has been named as ARULMIGU ADHIPARASAKTHI SIDDHAR PEEDAM. This Peedam is situated at Melmaruvathur, 92 km south of Chennai (Madras) at G.S.T. Road in Kanchipuram District. The moving Spirit behind all activities of the Adhiparasakthi Movement is undoubtedly His Holiness, standing out uniquely distinct well above all other Gurus in the world of Spirituality! His simple, free and frank preaching have been well taken and implicitly complied with resulting in the following, among other things:-
Elevating women to a very respectable status in society by allowing them unrestricted entry into the sanctum sanctorum at all times to perform pujas and take an active part in Spiritual activities, as all others enjoy. This has virtually broken the taboos thrust on the society during the medieval years. Effectively blending Spiritualism and Social Services together to redeem the mankind from sins to see a better tomorrow. Living in matrimony, leading an unostentatious life, thereby setting an example of practicing Spiritualism, while leading a family life. In Tamil literature, there are ample references to the virtues of ILLARAM (leading a Family life) and Arul Thiru Bangaru Adigalar is a living legend of this literary glorification.
Dr.V.S. Natarajan has been involving himself in the spiritual activities of Siddhar Peedam since 1978. He has been continuously dedicating all his efforts and successful accomplishments to Arul Thiru Bangaru Adigalar.
Melmaruvathur, predominantly a rural entity is surrounded by villages and hamlets exceeding 700 in number. The inhabitants being poor and unorganized in society are badly in need of a quality medical care which they cannot afford. So, SIDDHAR PEEDAM decided to offer a totally Free Medical Service to these people. With this laudable object, Melmaruvathur Adhi Parasakthi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research was started in the year 1986, as a service provider for the poor. The Institution has slowly developed into a primary, secondary and tertiary care provider, as a 300 bedded multispeciality hospital. The average outpatient attendance is of the order of 1200 per day, which is quite gratifying from any standards. Various departments like Casualty, Emergency services, General Medicine, General Surgery, Anaesthesiology, O & G, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Orthopaedics, Radiology, Nephrology, Urology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, TB and Chest Medicine, Dermatology, Venereoleprology, Cardiology, Gastro Enterology, Oncology, Plastic Surgery, Blood Bank, various branches of Dental Surgery, Dental Medicine, etc., are providing up to date, ultra modern services to the rural poor, in very much the same way as provided in urban multispeciality hospitals. Recently a Medical College and Dental College have been started in the above institute. It is no exaggeration to mention that the poor and downtrodden are very much benefited by the quality medical care offered to them, free of cost.
DR.V.S.Natarajan has closely associated himself with the medical activities of the Adhiparasakthi Charitable, Medical, Educational and Cultural Trust, Melmaruvathur for about 25 years. He has been offering Free Consultations and Counsel in the out-patient service at the above Institute once in a week and treats the rural elderly. He is also involved in conducting mega free cataract surgery camps on the occasion of the Birthday of Arul Thiru Adigalar for the last 15 years. Commencing from the year 1991, Free Eye Camps are conducted every year, a week before the Birthday of His Holiness (at Melmaruvathur).
In the latest Eye camp in 2009, about 5000 patients were screened and free cataract surgery performed on 1433 patients. Dr. Natarajan was generous enough to donate the prize amount of Rs.15,000/- and Rs.50,000/- which he received along with the Dr.B.C.Roy National Award and the IMC Platinum Jubilee Award respectively to the above Institute. Dr.V.S.Natarajan has conducted three major rural oriented research studies, the details of which have been published in both Foreign and Indian Medical Journals and also presented in the International Gerontology Conference.
